It is believed
William emigrated to the United States in 1885. He settled first
in Broad Brook, later in Newington, and finally in Windsor Locks,
Connecticut. William declared his intentions to become a U.S. citizen
on October 23, 1888; his Naturalization papers were signed October
27, 1890 in Hartford. William married three times, outliving all
three of his wives and three of his children.
William
sired fifteen children (numbered 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, etc.), all of whom
are identified in bold print. His marriages and descendants
are depicted in red,
green,
and blue
according to family group. Each person is identified by a unique
number; the number of digits indicates their generation (example:
person #2-2-2-1-1-1 is a sixth generation descendant of William
Rabbett, and a fifth generation descendant of person #2-2).
Regardless
of the number of digits in a person's identification number, siblings
can be identified because they bear identical numbers except for
the final digit, which always indicates the number of child in a
given family (example: person #2-2-2-9-3 is the third child of a
ninth child in family #2-2-2).
